The Kent Walking Bus

There are a wide range of factors that prompt parents and teachers into getting a Walking Bus started. In this section of the Walking Bus site we give each of the schemes operating in Kent an opportunity to explain why they set up a 'bus' and what lessons they can pass on to those just starting.
They detail the routes of their 'bus' to help promote their scheme.

We set up the bus to reduce road traffic & increase road awareness, as well as to improve health & safety for thechildren. This has been very successful.

Mrs Tracy Whiteley is coordinator, Karen Flood as bus conductor, Pauline Popple as bus driver and Tracy Woodman assisting.

We start from STrood Sports Centre, cross the very busy Watling street and collect more children from the Caosch & Horses pub. Walk along Jersey Road into alley leading into Gordon infants school gate.

Although we only have 5 walkers we are able to walk in rota system so that we all are able to enjoy the benefits of our children using the bus. We all have an input in the running of the bus.

Ideally we would like to start a bus from Cliffe road & other near by streets but to do this we need willing parents who will spare some valuable time which would help other children and their own to become road wise.
