Walk to school events page

What is a Walking Bus?...
Walking Buses are organised walks to school. 'Buses' operate along set routes, picking up children at pre-arranged points. Everyone involved wears high-visibility tabards and baseball caps provided free by our project. Adults involved are police-checked and routes approved by the council. Because of concerns over obesity levels in children and their lack of road safety skills, as well as the issue of growing traffic congestion, Walking Buses are attracting considerable interest from government.
What's in it for us?...
Walking Buses are a great way for children to travel safely, healthily and enjoyably to school. We need the support of local businesses to ensure that more and more children can benefit from the choice of a Walking Bus to take them to school, and that communities can benefit from the positive effects that these resources can have on road safety awareness among children, as well as health and the environment.
